Balloon Rides Over Wiltshire
Hot Air Balloon Rides in Wiltshire
Flying over the Wiltshire countryside on a hot air balloon ride is a fantastic experience with rolling countryside, ancient monuments and perhaps even a crop circle if you are lucky.
The ancient town of Salisbury and the 13th century Salisbury Cathedral provide spectacular views when seen from the basket of a hot air balloon. The cathedral is the finest medieval example in the country and its spire, the tallest in the country can be seen from miles away during balloon rides over the Wiltshire countryside. Fly north and you may see the stones of the much earlier religious site at Stonehenge!
Look south east on your balloon flight from Salisbury and you will see views of the New Forest National Park just 5 miles distant with the River Hamble and Southampton on the horizon. Drift westwards towards Dorset and the towns of Shaftesbury and Sherborne with quaint almshouses, a superb abbey and numerous medieval buildings.
Just outside Wiltshire but only a few miles north of Swindon Ballooning in the Cotswolds can take you flying in a hot air balloon over the Cotswold Water Park and the beautiful Cotswold villages to the north. Or drift southwards over Swindon to the Marlborough Downs and views of one of the famous White Horses carved in the chalk.
